The top views of racks are based on shape data from NetZoom’s Shape library. The top view of the rack will show a true-to-life view of the selected rack.

Using the top view available for most racks and devices in NetZoom’s shape library, a user can create floor layouts by dragging and dropping those top views to a diagram of your data center.

Rack Diagrams can be created by dragging and dropping NetZoom shapes from NetZoom’s Visio Add-in to Visio. NetZoom’s rack shapes include connection points at each rack unit, and each individual device shape will also have connection points so they can be slotted into the correct RU. NetZoom even includes tools to determine what exact connection points a device will have.

Yes. NetZoom’s RackBuilder template will create front and rear rack elevations simultaneously.

NetZoom collects data directly from manufacturer specifications when creating NetZoom shapes.

When using NetZoom Stencils, in order to get labels on the devices, one must change the label property for the Visio diagrams at path – Administration/Reports and Diagrams/Reports and Diagrams/Reports and Diagrams.

First choose the Visio diagram that you want to have the labels included on. Then go to the labels section as shown below.  Choose the label that you want to add and choose to add it to the right or left hand side. You may add up to two different properties for labels (one on right and one on left).

When using the NetZoom Visio Add-In, you can also set default labels. Navigate to the Visio Diagramming feature (feature path: administration/Settings/Enterprise Settings) and fill out the Labels section to automatically label your devices when they are brought into Visio.

Most NetZoom shapes include a front, rear and top view. Some also come with angled views.

NetZoom shapes include connection points on various points in the device, including a connection point for every port and rack unit. Using these connection points, users can snap devices into rack units or model connectivity between devices.

When searching NetZoom’s device library for a piece of equipment, you will also have the option of using the related devices tab. The related tab contains devices that are related to the current selection in the results tab, such as modules and cards. For example, searching for a specific blade chassis will show blade servers for that chassis in the related devices tab.
